2010 Kitchens & Bathrooms Awards

July 10, 2010

The West Australian

This kitchen’s space and style won the approval of the judges, who gave it points for its quality, layout and good looks.
They described it as “a very nicely presented kitchen”.
It had a useable working triangle and there was room for people to sit around the island bench while food was being prepared.
It was “a standout kitchen in its price range”, the judges said.
“This kitchen has all the right boxes ticked in design, quality and workmanship.”
The kitchen, by Switch Homes for Living, was designed by Giltedge Kitchens and Cabinets. The judges said the layout had been very well thought out.
“It is an excellent design with plenty of room to move around the kitchen,” they said.
The functional floor plan of the kitchen meant it could be used by several people at once, the judges
said.
“One person can be cleaning up at the sink without interrupting either the cooking or preparation work area,” they said.
“The kitchen has a good working triangle, with plenty of workbench space and there is space left for when the fridge door is open.
“The expansive clean length of island bench allows plenty of space for set-down and preparation of food within the cooking work triangle.
“The clean-up and sink bench is separate with its own work triangle allowing both areas to be used simultaneously.”
The judges were also impressed with the quality fit-out of the kitchen.
“The quality of materials and hardware used are that which are usually found in more expensive kitchens,” they said.
