Opposite entries allow dual use

Switch Homes for Living says its cottage-style Switcheight300 can work as a family home or two informal dwellings. This dual personality is possible because while most homes have a front and back entrance, this home effectively has two front doors albeit one at the front and one at the back. Cottage blocks with double garages accessed from the rear lane are now common in modern subdivisions and builders usually make the rear entry a tradesman’s entrance with a utility gate for private access for the family. But Switch Homes has provided a porch and street-entry statement to the rear of the home as well as the front. The parents’ retreat is placed to the rear and, besides a lavish ensuite including twin vanities, large shower and separate ┬átoilet, there are French doors so that the parents can also have a private outdoor sitting area. To the front are three bedrooms grouped around a bathroom and an open-plan living area making it a self-contained wing in its own.
