Sophisticated feature lighting to the island bench and a striking metallic splashback helped builder Switch Homes for Living win the best display home kitchen award ($330,001-$400,000) for its Switcheight180 Caversham display home. “A metallic ceramic splashback draws the eye to the cleanliness of the kitchen,” the judges said. “Cabinetry was well constructed using Natural Style 1 Polytech doors combined with aluminium-framed doors and translucent glazing. “LED strip lighting under the overhead cupboards helped illuminate the cooktop region of the bench.” The judges also commended the three large skylights over the meals area — which allowed plenty of natural light into the work areas — as well as the pop-up double power point to the island bench, which made for “easy utilisation of appliances or laptops”. The large scullery also drew high praise. “The scullery featured a wine fridge, extra sink and servery windows on two sides for access to the alfresco and outdoor bar,” the judges said.
